Dementia and Alzheimer's care at home

Patient, consistent PSWs and nurses who help people living with dementia stay safely at home in Alliston, Barrie and across Simcoe County.

How we help

Calm routines, safety and dignity
  • A steady daily routine, with the same caregivers wherever possible
  • Gentle help with bathing, dressing and toileting
  • Supervision to reduce wandering and falls
  • Meals, snacks and fluids
  • Medication reminders
  • Activities the person enjoys: music, walks, photos and conversation
  • Overnight care so family can sleep
  • A sitter in hospital for someone who is confused or restless (private duty)

Signs it may be time for help

  • Missed medications or meals
  • Getting lost, or leaving the stove on
  • Falls, or struggling to bathe safely
  • Being awake and unsettled at night
  • A family caregiver who is exhausted

You do not have to wait for a crisis. A few hours of help each week can make home safer and give the family a break.

The Alzheimer Society also offers free education and support groups for families.

How it works

  1. Call or send a message. Tell us who needs care, where, and when.
  2. We plan the care together. We learn the person’s routine, health needs and preferences, and agree on a schedule.
  3. We match the right Care Pro by skills, availability and, where we can, language.
  4. Care starts. Each visit is checked in and timed in the Bamwan app, and you confirm the hours.

Common questions

Will my mother or father have the same caregiver?

Consistency matters a lot in dementia care. We match a small team to your schedule and keep them the same as much as we can.

Can you help at night?

Yes. We provide overnight and 24-hour care for people who are awake or unsettled at night.

What if my loved one refuses help?

This is common. Our caregivers start slowly, build trust, and focus on what the person enjoys. We will plan the first visits with you.

Do your caregivers have dementia experience?

Many of our PSWs and nurses have worked in long-term care and memory care. Tell us about your loved one and we will match someone with the right experience.

Talk to us about dementia care

Tell us about your loved one, their routine and what is hardest right now. We will suggest a plan that fits.
